2019 First Semester – Third Grade

The goal of the Villa Library Program is to develop in students an enjoyment of reading, an appreciation of learning and to ensure that students can apply the skills, strategies and processes to be effective users and producers of information and ideas.

Library Responsibilities

Students reviewed the use and location of resources in the fiction and non-fiction sections of the library and practiced using the online search stations to locate books using the call number.

Literature Appreciation

Students were introduced to the books on this year’s “Fifty Nifty” recommended list. They have been encouraged to read books from these lists for pleasure.

Information Literacy and the Research Process

Using the topic of “Healthy Screen Habits”, students developed a central question exploring how children can develop healthy habits with the use of screens. Using discussion, expert information, and online resources, students began gathering information about the research question.
